In close collaboration with the Project Development Team, Winshall took on the challenging task of clearing and preparing the ground for the installation of two Traction Transformers, a pivotal component of the Upper Boat Transport for Wales Connection. While the primary objective was to ensure a seamless installation process for the EPC Supplier, this task presented unexpected challenges that required innovative and collaborative solutions.

During the groundworks phase, a significant and unforeseen obstacle surfaced: the presence of two water mains running directly through the planned build location. Remarkably, this critical information was not included in the hazard plans, highlighting the unpredictability inherent in complex projects.

Complicating matters further, a neighbouring factory depended on these water mains for their manufacturing processes. The water supply was drawn from the River Taff and played a crucial role in their operations. Recognizing the importance of addressing this issue swiftly and efficiently, we initiated a close partnership with the Factory Management Team.

In a remarkable display of collaboration, with the support of a Minor Civil Framework Supplier, the joint efforts of 1 Delivery and the Factory Management Team successfully diverted the water mains. This was executed with precision and skill, allowing us to complete the groundworks as planned.

The result of this coordinated effort ensured that the installation of the Traction Transformers proceeded without any delays or disruptions. Secondly, it safeguarded the EPC's Programme of Works, preserving its schedule and minimizing potential financial and operational impacts.
